FACILITATION

Effective facilitation can provide an important mechanism by which groups can reach agreement and take joint action. Effective facilitation can also ensure better utilisation of the knowledge, resources and capacities of all participants.

MyriaD Consultants are informed by the following principles in their approach to facilitation:

bullet

Choice creating strategies in relation to decision making

bullet

Enthusiasm and collaboration with participants

bullet

Maximising participation in an inclusive way

bullet

Recognising the diversity of contribution of all participants

It is critical that participants in the process define their own objectives and agree on the methods for achieving them. It is essential that the processes used by a facilitator are open and transparent, and that at no point do participants feel coerced or manipulated into making decisions. Participants should feel responsible for the decisions they make and find their choices intrinsically compelling or satisfying.

In undertaking facilitation for your organisation, MyriaD will help to:

bullet

Elicit and clarify the vision and direction of the group

bullet

Develop dynamics in partnership with the group to maximise collaboration and trust building

bullet

Work with the energy of the group to motivate and inspire

bullet

Act as a resource to be utilised by the group

bullet

Be alert to the expressions and needs of individuals within the group, and the group as a whole.
